Our boats are especially made for the Mekong sailing. With 35-meter long, they are equipped with engines of 200 horsepower. Hulls are made of steel and layouts on board of preciouslocal wood (rosewood and teak). With a sundeck salon lounge area in the front, a 10 tables and 40 seats restaurant in the middle, and a Bar and sitting area in the back, you will spend a very comfortable and relaxing time during the cruise. With 2 lunches will be served on board, you will experience and discover authentic Lao cuisine.
- Transfer in Luang Prabang from your hotel to SHOMPOO CRUISE office pier and vice-versa.
- Transfer from Laos immigration to slow boat Pier at Houay Xay for downstream and vice-versa for upstream program.
- Crew service during the cruise.

DAY 1: HOUAY XAY – PAK BENG
At 08:00am, the guests will meet our English Speaking team with a welcome sign at the Chiang Khong immigration office. He will help the guests to exit Thailand and get the shuttle bus to Lao border (included). Then our local English speaking guide will welcome them at Lao customs to apply for the visa. After getting the VISA, guests will take a sharing transfer by Tuk Tuk or Mini van to the slow boat pier to embark on the boat. During the cruise, the boat will take its first stop in Pak Tha, to have necessary boat documents signed. The second stop will be to visit a Hill tribe village along the Mekong River. Our guide will explain the way of living and the origins of these rural populations. Lunch is served on board, and during the afternoon, you will be free to relax and taste local flavors with seasonal snacks and drinks. The boat will arrive in Pakbeng before sunset, where you will retreat to your accommodation for the night.
DAY 2: PAK BENG – LUANG PRABANG
At 08:00 AM, the boat leaves Pakbeng. Use your free time in the morning for asking some questions about Luang Prabang and Laos to our guide. Lunch is served on board. In the afternoon, we will make two stop. First, we will visit the famous Pak Ou Caves (Tham Ting) and its thousands of Buddha images. The second stop will be at the Lao Lao village, commonly known as the Whisky Village. In there, the guide will provide information about the locally made rice whisky, and you will have the chance to taste it if you wish. You will also have time to enjoy the charm of this small and authentic village, its temple and local artisans. You will be served a typical snack and drink on board in the afternoon. We will arrive in Luang Prabang around 04:30pm.
DAY 1: LUANG PRABANG – PAKBENG
Our driver will pick you up from your hotel/guesthouse at 6:30 AM, and transport you to the boat pier. The boat leaves at 7:00 AM for the upstream cruise to Pakbeng. French breakfast is served onboard after the introduction of the crew. Shortly thereafter, we will stop to visit the famous Pak Ou Caves (Tham Ting) and its thousands of Buddha images. For lunch, local food is served onboard. Then, you will have free time for relaxing in the afternoon, until the boat arrives in Pakbeng at dusk. You will be served a typical snack and drink on board in the afternoon. Here, you will retreat to your accommodation for the night.
DAY 2: PAK BENG – HOUAY XAY
The guide will meet you on the boat at 06:45 AM, which departs at 07:00 AM for continuing the trip up to Houay Xay. On the way, we visit a Hill Tribe village. Our guide will explain the way of living and the origins of these rural populations. After, lunch will be served on board. A final, brief stop has to be made in Pak Tha for having necessary boat documents signed. Then, before arrival in Houay Xay, we will initiate your palate to local flavors by offering a tasting of seasonal fruits, drinks, snacks. Arrival in Houay Xay will be around 5:00pm, allowing for the possibility of continuing your journey into Thailand on the same day.
