Gary will impart his wisdom, tips, advice and hands on assistance to any level of photographer  – beginner or budding pro – as you travel through fabulous landscapes, visit picturesque ruined cities and glorious temples, experience bustling street-life and markets and meet the friendly local peoples and colourful minority hill-tribes who inhabit this region .

    Travel from hectic yet fascinating Bangkok via the ruined, ancient city and now UNESCO World Heritage Site of Sukhothai to Chiang Mai, Thailand’s charming northern capital, from where we’ll continue into the mist shrouded mountains and forests and remote hill-tribe villages of the infamous Golden Triangle Region.

    1. Detail Itinerary Thailand photography tour Images of Thailand

      Day 1 Arrival in Bangkok – meet your tour leader and transfer to a comfortable, downtown hotel in the City’s Banglamphu district. Introductory talk by Gary with time to relax, recover from your jet-lag by the pool or explore the area’s lively markets and street-life.

      Day 2 City tour with a difference – central Bangkok by riverboat, skytrain, tuk-tuk and canal boat – we’ll see the famous sites and what lies behind the famous sites! Visits will include; the Grand Palace, fabulous Wat Phra Keow – ‘Temple of the Emerald Buddha, Siam Square and the fascinating Jim Thompson House Museum.

      Day 3 Morning departure by train; across the Central Plains and their emerald green rice paddies, to up-country Phitsanolok town – the Gateway to the North.  Lunch time arrival, a visit to the local handicraft museum and transfer to nearby Sukhothai town with the afternoon to relax in our guesthouse garden or discover the local markets.

      Day 4 Bicycle tour of the nearby, ancient city and now UNESCO World Heritage Site of Sukhothai – former capital of Siam – which, with it’s crumbling sandstone temples,  ancient carvings, towering Buddha statues and lotus-covered ponds, is one of the country’s most sacred and evocative sites.

      Day 5 Scenic drive through the mountains to Chiang Mai. Check in to our centrally located hotel and time to relax by the pool or explore the area before an evening tour of the town’s famous night bazaar.

      Day 6 Departure for the far north with a scenic drive to the remote border town of Tha Ton, including a stop on the way to visit the fascinating cave temples at Chiang Dao, before checking out the spectacular views at Tha Ton Pagoda situated high on a mountain top straddling the Thai/Burmese border.

      Day 7 Beginning with a descent by boat of the scenic Kok River we’ll trek on foot and by elephant through the region’s dramatic mountain scenery, passing several hill-tribe settlements, before an overnight stay as guests in a village of the Akha ethnic group.

      Day 8 Morning transfer by truck to the nearby fascinating town of Mae Salong. Originally founded by Chinese Republican soldiers, (Kuomintang), who took refuge in the area after defeat by Mao Tse Tung’s communist forces, the town was off limits for many years due to its role as a centre for the opium trade but is now known for tea plantations and spectacular scenery as well as being the centre for the local hill-tribe peoples. Time to wander around the picturesque mountain-top town and perhaps check out participate in a tea tasting ceremony?

      Day 9 Opportunity for an early start to visit the morning hill-tribe market before continuing to the magnificent botanical gardens at Mae Fah Luang.  From here we’ll travel north to the bustling Burmese border market at Mae Sai. A visit to Sob Ruak and the Golden Triangle itself where the borders of Thailand, Laos and Burma meet, and where we can take in the unusual ‘Opium Museum’, before a return to Chiang Rai Town for our overnight accommodation.

      Day 10 Morning scenic drive through the mountains to Chiang Mai with a stop on the way to visit the spectacular Wat Rong Khun Temple. Mid afternoon arrival with time to stretch your legs or just relax by the pool.

      Day 11 Day at leisure in Chiang Mai, check out the local markets, some last minute shopping or visit the famous Doi Suthep, with an evening departure for London, via Bangkok. (Note, an optional Thai cookery lesson can be arranged if desired.)

    The Prices showed on our system is in USD (United State Dollar), INCLUDED Tax and Service Charge but EXCLUDED Bank Fee. Please check carefully the inclusion and exclusion of services before booking. Included and excluded services will also be listed in our confirmation email.

    Before making a reservation, please check the price of the tour by filling the number of pax, choosing the departure date, and clicking “Check Rates” button in “Check Rates” tab. Click “Book It” button to reserve the accommodation type you prefer for the tour and process to the next step. Please select the optional transfer services or extra services of your choice from the list then click ‘Add To Cart’ button to navigate to the next step.

    Re-check the services you would like to book then click “Submit Booking” (“Send My Inquiry” for Land Tours) to navigate to the final step. At the final step, fill your necessary information in the detail information form.

    Please fill correct information, especially the email address and phone number so that we can contact with you to process the booking. Once finish filling the information, click “Submit” button to send the request to us.

    Note: An automatic email will be sent to your email address and our salespeople will soon contact you regarding the reservation. In the meantime, you have successfully sent your request to us. Please remember to utilize our “Book Together” feature in reservation process to have more savings.

    The booking process is represented through 5 steps below:

    Step 1: Check Rates

    Fill in the numbers of adults, children and infants of your group, enter your departure date and click ‘Check Rates’ button, you will see the accommodation prices.

    Once you selected an accommodation, click ‘Book It’ button to continue.

    Tips: To get more special discounts, please take a look at ‘Trip saving for booking together’ section where you can check rates and get a discount for booking 02 services at the same time. The discount amount ranges from US$3 to US$60 per room per night (hotel) or per pax (tour).

    Step 2: Book Extra Services

    This step meets your needs in booking optional services like transfer, visa, kayaking or other interesting activities related to your current booking.

    Tips: Don’t forget to book hotels, tours together in this step! It’s a smart way to get more savings.

    Step 3: Submit Booking

    Here you can review, add or remove your booking items, complete and submit your booking form.

    After your booking is submitted, the system navigates to a ‘Thank you page and send you an automatic email listing all the services you requested.

    Our travel consultant will get in contact with you within 01 working day to inform about the service availability & payment.

    Step 4: Confirm Availability & Deposit

    1. Check availability :

    After receiving your booking request, our consultant will check the availability of the services. If the services are available, our consultant will send you a payment link for the deposit by email, otherwise we will give you some alternative suggestions.

    Notice: our email may go to your spam mailbox, please check your spam mailbox if you don’t receive our response in one working day.

    2. Deposit:

    After receiving the payment link in the email sent from our consultant, please make the deposit as soon as possible to secure your booking. When we receive your deposit payment, our consultant will reserve the services for your booking as following:

    If all of the services are reserved successfully, we will send you a Confirmation Email including the deposit invoice and other useful information

    If the services are fully booked and are not available, we will inform you and suggest other options. In case you no longer want to book these services, we will refund all of the deposit amount.

    Notice: Your booking will NOT be confirmed until we send you the Confirmation email. The remaining balance can be paid later – before departure date. For some urgent bookings or special types of promotion, 100% of the total cost will be required.

    Step 5: Final Payment

    The full payment must be made before your departure date. The exact deadline will be confirmed by our travel consultant depending on each service you booked.

    The remaining balance can be paid by Cash (VND, USD, AUD, EUR) or by credit card. For the customers who’re going to stay in Hanoi, we are able to setup a direct meeting to collect the final payment.

    Notice: Payment by cash on arrival is only applied for trips starting from Hanoi and the arrival date is before the payment deadline (confirmed by our travel consultant). All currencies are exchanged by local rate.

    At the end of booking process, on the “Make a booking” page, you can enter any special requests into the “Special Request” box before submitting your booking. Another easy way is sending us your special request directly by email.

    The deposit is required to guarantee your reservation (tours, hotels, transfer, etc.). After receiving your deposit, we’re going to reserve the services for you. So the deposit is required to secure your booking. Normally, 30% of total cost will be required for deposit at the booking time.     Normally Journey Expedition Travel includes two meals each day during tour: Breakfast and Lunch. You will have the freedom to make your own dinner choice.


    It is normally served at the hotel where you stay. Depending on the hotel, the breakfast would be in western style, local style, or a combination.


    Lunches are usually set menu at handpicked local restaurant with comfortable dining environment where you can rest assure to taste the local flavor. All restaurants arranged by Indochina Odyssey Tours selected carefully and evaluated constantly based on customer feedback and our on-site inspection.


    Dinners will not be included in your meal plan unless you have that requirement. Enjoying the local food could be one of your best experiences in “tasty” Indochina area. This is why we provide you this flexibility of food choice. Your private guide will always give you good suggestions based on your preferences.

    If you have certain food allergies or special requirements such as vegetarian food, let us know. We will do our best to accommodate your needs

    You will have a private tour guide, private driver, and an air-conditioned vehicle escorting you at every destination you travel across Southeast Asia. This will provide you with maximized personal care, security, and flexibility
